How was it not an apology when he said:

• It was never his intention to make light of the murder of Kirk.
• That he asks for compassion.
• That he’s not blaming any specific group.
• That the alleged shooter was a deeply disturbed and sick individual.
• That he gets why people were upset about his previous remarks.
• That he has many friends and family members on the opposite side politically.
• That violence is never the solution.
• That the people on the right he knows and loves don’t send him death threats.
