when i graduated high school (during Don’t Ask Don’t Tell), i started getting all the recruitment phone calls. i tried politely telling them no. no change. telling them i am medically ineligible for military service (true!) also did not stop the spam calls.

you know what did? I asked the marines recruiter “hey, i know you take men in your army, but did you have to be born that way?”

didn’t say anything, didn’t confess anything, just asked an uncomfortable question and he hung up on me. haven’t gotten a phone call from the military since.
