    Isn’t the US embassy advice just “you’re on your own, good luck”?

    Just joking, they don’t say “good luck” at the end

      They said “Thank you for your attention to this matter” instead.

      In all seriousness, the background is that the person cannot find flights. Even the expensive ones are often cancelled. The US embassy told him to get a flight to Sri Lanka in 10 hours or so. It was cheap and wasn’t cancelled. The person also talked about how his British accent helped (as opposed to Chinese accent).

      Someone noted that he later deleted the comment since it seemed to inspire many people to try the same thing. Let alone it’s a crime to falsely claim US citizenship.
