Imagine you’re a secret service agent assigned to protect Trump. Your whole organization got raked over the coals when someone took a shot at him and managed to make him bleed. So, as a dedicated secret service employee, you really want to do your job well, and try to think of anything you could be doing better, trying to find any way to tighten things up to make sure your protectee stays safe.

And then, one day, he just decides he’s going to go for a walk on the roof of the White House for no apparent reason.

Similar to this, there was an incident where Nixon (who was probably drunk) decided, in the middle of the night, with just his valet and a handful of Secret Service agents, to go down to the Lincoln Memorial where people were protesting his administration.

One of the craziest pre-Trump POTUS stories

The Secret Service were scared to begin with, but Nixon insited on going. Later on, as the crowd got more and more brazen, the Secret Service made an excuse for him to leave, telling him that he had a phone call at the White House, but Nixon waved them off and told them to let it wait.
