I hear it from the few liberals in my life who think Russia has immense influence on Trump and the current state of our country is therefore Russia’s fault. I hear it from people of many ideologies who push the “Zionist occupied government” rhetoric to avoid confronting our states track record of being a genocidal monster and our power over the Israeli state. Of course I also hear it from fascists who blame various minorities for their financial troubles. It’s very common. I’d argue most politically aware Americans passively subscribe to one of these beliefs if not actively but this is just my subjective experience.

I don’t see the contradiction. I can hear this from many people in my life and believe it to be a common issue while not applying it to every American and feeling hatred towards them (as the other user I was engaging with was suggesting)

The term most politically aware americans means >50% of the political aware American people. In its most loosely applied manner this could be less than 50% of all American people even making it a minority.

The meme implies that this is a behavior exhibited by all Americans, making it hyperbolic.

I could have given that person a more developed and honest response but I didn’t feel it would be productive at all so I didn’t bother wasting my energy.
