I mean, we’re seeing a rapid rise of the far right in almost every Western nation at about the same time.

This is relevant to much of the world

I mean, Latin countries are certainly in danger too.

A fascist America means cold war era coup attempts in Latin countries are back. Maybe the US support won’t be in any way incognito whatsoever this time. US might straight up be sending troops all over Central and South America soon.

Look at what’s happening to Venezuela right now.

I mean, it’s not like Milei, Bolsonaro or the Nobel Prize laureate aren’t heavily supported by the US. “Cold war coups” never really stopped in Latin American countries

            Prepare for it to esculate.

At least if we still had a democracy, it’d be easier to both spread the word and engage in meaningful protest to stop or severely hinder it domestically.

We don’t get that now. Nearly no mainstream media outlet has made mention of Venezuela until a Dem asked about it this week, and even so it ain’t getting the coverage it needs.

How did the “democracy” prevent all the Cold War shit? Millions of murdered in Vietnam, Korea, Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Iraq… US warmongering is bipartisan and kills millions regardless

Also, one of the main reasons the Vietnam war ended was mass protests against it.

The war had become extremely unpopular in the USA.

Democracy in the digital age makes the atrocities of a country harder to hide from their domestic population than fascism, wouldn’t you agree?

I would agree depending on the control of media. People only woke up to the genocide in Palestine due to the widespread usage of a non-US-controlled social media: tiktok. As the US moves in its efforts to ban or purchase alternative media (also including ban of Russian media in the EU), they will possibly be able to control the narrative, yet to be seen. For now, all US citizens are convinced that Maduro is an unpopular criminal dictator and have no idea of the effect of US sanctions on Venezuelan economy and the desperate suffering that they’re causing, and are therefore primed to accept an invasion.
