It’s paused on appeal now, but there was never going to be a consequence for Trump personally because he’d argue “official act.” There’d only be the return of control of the CA National Guard troops to Governor Newsom So they could be sent to help with wildfire situations, for instance. Then again, will people even trust them to help with an evacuation anymore?
It’s been paused on appeal…
I got a couple of random calls on our landline last week claiming to be from “a national polling company” and starting with a question about my age demographic instead of answering my question “which company?” I may be a boomer but I know better than to tell anything to a machine over the phone, so I hung up. I’d love to give the real pollsters a piece of my mind about the rise of fascism in this country but only the phishers want to hear from me.

…trying to say Fox is manipulating the quotes to falsify facts…
I’m pretty sure this is what you meant to type because it’s completely on-brand for Fox News
“Newsom” and also “sue”
Newsom. Newsom. Nope, not even a suggestion of the one with the e.
Mostly the CHP has been trying to keep the protestors off the freeways, which is kinda their job. It’s unsafe for everyone, having pedestrians on the freeway. And it doesn’t allow people who think “this is getting out of hand, I was here for a protest not a riot, I’m going to get out of here” to do so. Much less “I picked the wrong day to shop for bargains in the Garment District.”
The last time it happened was pretty much your spin scenario. I was 5 at the time and remember my parents following it in the newspaper.

"Continued chaotic federal sweeps, across California, to meet an arbitrary arrest quota are as reckless as they are cruel.
Donald Trump’s chaos is eroding trust, tearing families apart, and undermining the workers and industries that power America’s economy."

I would argue the negligence was committed by the person who left the insular community (which had some protection by virtue of avoiding exposure, even though it also perpetuated an antivaccine and anti doctor mindset) and brought home the measles. It’s also very much a young-women-do-as-they-are-told society so the mother’s level of agency over her own health and that of her fetus is questionable. You go ahead and blame her, but I’d like more evidence she was willfully neglectful.
EDIT TO ADD:
“While measles may have been a contributing factor in both the premature birth and death, the infant also faced other serious medical complications unrelated to the virus,” he added.
Since we read they’re trying to get the word out to the community in their language, it’s very possible she wasn’t aware she needed the vaccine, especially since obviously her parents didn’t get her vaccinated as a child. If she wasn’t planning to get pregnant she wouldn’t have been told “you need to get the MMR at least a month before you start trying.” And she’s probably not the person who went to New Brunswick and exposed her insular community, but instead could well have become pregnant at about the time the first cases were diagnosed in her community. Then with the virulence of measles it would have been very difficult to remain sufficiently isolated to completely avoid exposure. We also don’t know her age. And we don’t know how sick she got, but possibly it precipitated the premature labor.
“MMR vaccine should not be given during pregnancy and you shouldn’t try to become pregnant within a month after vaccination.”
So depending on the timing of the exposure and whether the pregnancy was planned, and whether she was aware she wasn’t vaccinated and that it’s okay under Mennonite rules, there’s a few scenarios where she’s more victim than villain
Now there’s a job to hand over to AI if ever there was one
Don’t be in such a hurry to meet Jesus, Senator, because He’s going to cast you into the flaming pit you’ve been digging your whole life with every act of greed and heartlessness.
She’s frantically busy saving/trying to save lives as a doctor in the same hospital, one of very few still running.
Iirc, it’s the same hospital his mom, who is also a doctor, works at. So they have each other at least.
I meant they’d be a bit more free of political pressure if they weren’t reliant on money from whoever’s in power. Steve Inskeep was the first reporter I heard finally use the word “lie” to refer to something Trump said, but I’d like to widen the tightrope they walk. It would be even better if their funding was enshrined and guaranteed somehow, but I think we know that’s impossible.
