    Such a great song.

All of their songs are. It just occurred to me that SoaD might be one of the most political bands out there, up there with RatM. Which made me curious if there were many right wing fans that complained about them getting political because they didn’t realize they were saying that all along. And of course there were.

Guess it’s why Cobain sang about it over 30 years ago.

He’s the one who likes all our pretty songs…

Though now I’m wondering what bands I’ve enjoyed without realizing they were fascist leaning lol.

Never listened to them but last names like that it’s not surprising. Armenia has been in a rough spot politically for a long time now

You should give them a listen. Their sound is amazing and I can’t really blame people for enjoying without really listening to the words. It wouldn’t surprise me if you hear some and realize you’ve known them for decades without realizing.

My top ones: Toxicity, Deer Dance, Aerials, Chop Suey, Spiders, Lost in Hollywood, BYOB, Hypnotize

Chop Suey was named that because the original name of Righteous Suicide would get the song banned.

Yeah, I guess it’s important to remember bands aren’t monoliths and some members themselves might even be the subject of In Bloom. And even having some leanings on particular topics doesn’t mean agreement on all topics.

That kinda makes me want to form a 9-piece band called “Monolith” that includes:

          An auth left

          An auth center

          An auth right

          A left center

          A centrist

          A right center

          A lib left

          A lib center

          And a lib right

“Sure, it set us back a few thousand years, but how awesome was it when the lead guitarist impaled Rand Paul, Mike Pence, and Xi Jinping all in one go?”

“Yeah, I guess that was pretty cool. I do miss potable water, though. Anyway, what’s your favorite song?”

“Probably ‘All you need is love, a diversified portfolio, a Judeo-Christian ethic and the means of production.’”

“I found it a little wordy, but it does get its point across.”

He’s def got a thing going on. One hell of a drummer. Wonder what the band dynamic is off stage. Do they all just stay apolitical? do they grief each other? They’re still working in some way that I can’t fathom, good for them i suppose.

There’s probably a lot of “shut up and drum, dipshit” going on around there.

Did some digging and while there are some right leaning bands on my “I’ve enjoyed their music” list, none of them came as a surprise, like Leonard Skynyrd, Kid Rock, Five Finger Death Punch.

Guess self-awareness isn’t equal between right and left wings. Which is maybe even illustrated by being curious about this in the first place. Or maybe I’m overgeneralizing my own experience lol.

As a left winger, I’m probably more okay with listening to a song by an artist that doesn’t represent my views as long as it’s not too crazy and I’m not actively supporting them.

Imo art has value regardless of its source.

Right wingers for some reason feel betrayed. I guess to them it’s about not crossing tribes rather than going where their inspiration takes them.

I think you’re right. Rage Against the Machine apparently pissed off some conservative fans by opposing Trump.

John Dolmayan is a Trump supporter. Self-awareness doesn’t have to be bipartisan.
