First Lady Melania Trump has denied connections to Jeffrey Epstein, telling reporters at the White House that any claims linking the two “need to end today”.
In a surprise announcement on Thursday, the first lady called for congressional hearings for survivors of Epstein’s sex trafficking.
She also denied online rumours that Epstein introduced her to Donald Trump, calling them “mean-spirited attempts to defame my reputation”.
It is unclear what prompted the announcement.
She won’t back anything up with action.
I’m guessing that the House Oversight Committee wants her to testify, so she’s trying to head it off at the pass before they officially ask.
Maybe Maxwell’s slow trickle of claims in pro se filings had something that Bondi couldn’t make go away.
You might be right on that. I know a lot of people are saying, “Oh something big is about to drop!” I wish, but a more likely scenario is something boring by comparison, like being asked to testify before a committee. I also wonder if she’s trying to draw a divide between herself and Trump. If she’s going to throw him under the bus, all I can say is, it couldn’t happen to a better person.
