People… Cons are the epitome of hypocrisy, you don’t need to point out every example… they don’t really stand for anything, they don’t want anything except to feel superior to others and the easiest way to go about it is to bring others down (because they won’t put in the work to make themselves better)

They will literally get pig roasted by a trans goats if that, somehow, meant “owning the libs” or hurting other people they dislike

I don’t ever remember any of those people crying about free speech. 2A maybe, but never free speech.

Every time a bunch of racist protesters were criticized (or God forbid, one got fired from their job), I would hear endlessly about free-speech. As if it even applied.

But then when peaceful BLM protesters were being assaulted, it was silence at best and celebration at worst.

And then there are the social media free-speech stans (but only hate-speech being free) that eventually led to Musk buying Twitter.

They literally invented the idea of “cancel culture” to defend spreading hate speech on college campuses.

You aren’t a very serious person are you?

Henry Grabar: You wrote this in March 2018, which was a pretty banal month by Trump administration standards. Do you remember what you were thinking of specifically?

Frank Wilhoit: I don’t believe there was a topical stimulus. I was responding specifically to that particular posting on Crooked Timber. And the mildly viral quote was just the punchline of a substantially longer posting, which attempted to lay out some of the context. Of course the context could easily be exploded to book length but no one’s got time for that.

Thread in question he was responding in
