If the US lifted sanctions, the economy would get a lot closer to “fixed”. Pretty ridiculous to act like the economic problems are not a result of the reactionary policies of the capitalist vampires.

Cuba has an authoritarian government wherein political opposition is prohibited.[16][17] Censorship is extensive and independent journalism is repressed;[18][19][20] Reporters Without Borders has characterized Cuba as one of the worst countries for press freedom.[21][20]

Somehow a repressive communist hellhole is also the US’s fault

You jumped from economy to press freedom.

Cuba’s economy is entirely because of American sanctions.

Cuba’s primary export trading partners are integral to its economy. In 2025, top partners included the Netherlands (18% of exports, $1.1 billion), China (15%, $900 million), Spain (12%, $720 million), Canada (10%, $600 million), and Germany (9%, $540 million).

That must explain why they are a communist shithole, no freedom of press, state run enterprises that are garbage

The Government’s monthly food basket provides basic commodities for the entire population. However, in 2023 it was almost entirely imported, and the Government reported shortages and delays in distribution.

In February 2016, the U.S. agreed to allow two American men to build a $5-10 million tractor factory.[61] The deal was later disallowed by Cuban authorities because factory ownership is illegal in Cuba.[62][63]

        Both can be true.

If everything is Cuba’s fault, then US can lift sanctions and they’ll continue to be failing. But they won’t do that because Cuba, while awful for speech rights, would be pretty good in most other aspects without the sanctions, and a successful socialist country isn’t allowed to exist.

Yeah it turns out when your country is under siege war the government has to restrict some speech to keep the peace. That’s war.

            Sanctions are siege warfare.

And wartime is exactly when the government has to restrict some speech. I bet you have no problem with Ukraine doing it.
