It’s a federal government thing. Congress, SCOTUS, the President and anyone in their sphere are largely insulated from any accountability for corruption. Hell, they can insider trade and loan their campaigns cash at 20%, then pay themselves back with your campaign contributions, and it’s not even considered unethical, much less illegal.
I wish it was just a Republican thing, but Democrats like free money too, and their deliberate choice not to ban these practices when they’re in power (and they’ve had plenty of power over the last two decades to end them) demonstrates their complicity.
