America has something called the EnergyGuide, which looks like this.

Energy”Star” is a little certification logo that gets awarded to products that reach certain efficiency targets.

Yes, we currently have something similar although it’s less comprehensive. That’s what the article is about.

You might be thinking of EnergyGuide, not EnergyStar.

If someone would remove him from existence, we would not have these problems

You think that, but really he’s just the puppet and spokesperson for a large conservative movement that’s well funded, and been planning this for at least a decade.

“Energy efficiency program” right. I’m not actually heartbroken about an agency that famously gave certification to nonexistent products going away. It was always just a marketing ploy anyway. Can we maybe focus on the actual damage the fascists are trying to do?

Not on the side of closing it down, I do believe it has goodwill value that reminds consumers to be attentive to energy use. But, it made me think of this article where they approved a gasoline powered alarm clock.

Yeah I didn’t mean to come down on the side of “shut it down” just that they have a history of absurdity even if they do mean well. I phrased myself poorly.

Maybe it’s not perfect and is prone to fraud, but it’s still better than zero efforts to improve energy efficiency and have an extremely wasteful product set from every manufacturer due to no oversight.

Maybe the answer is to try to fix the fraud holes instead of getting rid of it completely. I’d rather have something in place than let corporations dictate anything whom will of course step on any aspect of being efficient or long lasting in order to maximize profits.

I agree. I definitely don’t think that it should be shut down, I was just tactlessly trying to say something along the lines of “pick our battles” or maybe “this feels like a distraction.”
