In a newly revealed March memo, officials proposed ways to dramatically curtail the US government’s disaster response role, such as by ending aid for smaller disasters and cutting housing funds for survivors.

A bunch of left-leaning Democrats in 2020: “We should abolish ICE. It does not appear to serve a useful purpose and is staffed with people hell bent on doing irreparable harm to the public.”

DC Leadership: “SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP! You’re destroying America with your extremist Tankie pro-terrorist propaganda!”

A bunch of far-right eugenicists in 2024: “We should abolish FEMA. Natural disasters aren’t a big deal anyway and it’ll help thin the herd if only the strong are able to survive.”

DC Leadership: “Shrug Let’s put it to a vote.”

Blue states can take care of themselves, and in this political environment they’re unlike Kelly to pitch in for red states.

trump is stupid and doing things too fast, the Republican M.O. has always been delaying consequences till a Dem has control

A lot of shit is going to break before midterms, and that’s going to depress a lot of votes

So don’t expect FEMA to be there when a bomb train derails and poisons your whole community after exploding and taking out half the town.

Figure it out on your own, they’ll say, you’re the one who chose to live near a bomb train rail line, they’ll say.

When that happens it will derail their entire argument. These people are the opposite of trained professionals.

Even if you bring it up they’ll try to change the subject, “this conversation is getting off-track.”
