Picking a fight with Hasan Piker while midterms are gearing up is the dumbest fucking idea. The consultant class really is a problem when it comes to meaningful change. (TikTok screencap)

So we can have a different, even worse fascist in four years? Aren’t you tired of settling for “not as evil?” You can say something like “but if Republicans win they’ll make sure that no leftist ever wins again,” but voting blue no matter who got us here, with a republican who’s doing his best to make sure no leftist ever wins again.

The choice is between “fascism now” and “possibly fascism later” and you’re adamant about picking the former. Great logic.

So how many years of fascism will it take until we get this utopia you have in mind?

There’s no “possibly” about it. Republicans will win some elections. Fascism now, or fascism later. I want someone in office who will mitigate the fascism that inevitably comes later, not enable it.

I mean look at the last couple of elections. Do you seriously think that, in hindsight, Biden winning 2020 was a good thing? 2021–2024 under Biden wasn’t as bad as it would have been under Trump, but it sure as shit wasn’t worth letting Trump win '24.

        how many years

Ideally 2. That’s why I’m voting in primaries. But assuming Newsom (or some equivalent) makes it to the ballot, then ideally 6. If nobody votes for the blue fascist in '28, maybe we can get someone worth voting for in '32. If every democrat votes for Hitler (D), then we have a lot more years of fascism to look forward to in the future.

Yes, I do firmly believe Biden winning was preferable to a second Trump term. But it doesn’t matter because Trump didn’t win as a result of it Biden. Trump won because the DNC handpicked a candidate no none of us wanted in the face of vocal opposition.

You expect fascism to disappear in 2 years by letting the fascist win…so why didn’t that happen in 2019? How many more 2-years-of-fascism do we need? And what happens when fascism breaks the system so thoroughly, progressive candidates have even less of a chance of winning?

These anti-voting arguments never seem thought through. They only make sense in a fantasy world.

Trump didn’t win as a result of it Biden.

Biden wasn’t the sole factor that got Trump elected, but he did have four years to prevent a second Trump term and failed to do so. And why do you think the DNC hand picked that particular candidate? I wonder if Biden had something to do with it.

You expect fascism to disappear in 2 years by letting the fascist win…

I guess I’m done with this argument. No point talking to someone who can’t read. Just for funsies I’ll answer this in earnest before I block you

No, I don’t expect fascism to disappear in 2 years by letting a fascist win. I said that ideally, we’ll have to put up with fascism for another 2 years, because that’s when the next presidential election is, and hopefully we’ll have a progressive candidate worth voting for. Maybe even someone who’s willing to throw the criminals in the Republican party in prison.

Realistically, Newsom or some other equivalent piece of shit will be on the ballot. In that case, him winning doesn’t mean no more fascism, it means that we get four more years of fascism after he’s out of office. Ideally, if he loses by a wide margin, then in 2032, we’ll have a progressive candidate worth voting for. Maybe even someone who’s willing to throw the criminals in the Republican party in prison.

And what happens when fascism breaks the system so thoroughly, progressive candidates have even less of a chance of winning?

That’s what Trump is trying to do right now, as a direct result of Biden having won in 2020 and failing to do anything to prevent it. Biden had a hand in this exact thing happening.

“Let me just get the last word in before I block you”

Your conclusion doesn’t match your argument. You’re pinning the shittiness of the DNC on Biden winning 2020.

The problem is that your ideas work great in a vacuum but fall apart instantly when applied to the real world.

So, if the block wasn’t just a bluff, do you think the world would be in a better place if Harris won in 2024?

Do you think we’d be closer to freedom it Trump won in 2020?

voting blue no matter who got us here,

Well, no. Because Trump was elected. Twice. If people had “voted blue not matter who”, we would have had Clinton, a shitty Dem and not a progressive, but NOT. TRUMP. And again with Harris, who would have been much better than TRUMP.

The time to fight and the place to fight is NOT the general US election, but everywhere else - primaries, and beyond.

But when it comes to the general election, the choice is FASCISM or NOT FASCISM for now, sot he choice is clear.

I used to agree, but now I don’t. In the general election, the choice is between FASCISM NOW or FASCISM LATER. We’ve been signalling to the democratic party that fascism later is fine for years now, and we need to start signalling to them that it’s not.

Let’s say Harris wins 2024. What would she do to prevent the next republican from being just as bad as, if not worse than, current Trump? Voting blue no matter who means never getting a progressive candidate. Why on earth would the democrats run a progressive when they can run a conservative, knowing you’ll vote for anyone with a D next to their name?

Also… What primaries should we be fighting in when they don’t have one?

Voting blue no matter who means never getting a progressive candidate.

Voting blue in the general has absolutely zero to do with the nature of the candidate that got there.

Also… What primaries should we be fighting in when they don’t have one?

How about all the other fucking ones where they do? That ONE FUCKING TIME they didn’t, and for arguably good reason, but who the fuck cares, let’s say they tried to fuck us over that ONE SINGLE FUCKING TIME and because of that “Nope, can’t vote blue ever again until there’s a progressive”

NEWS FUCKING FLASH: There will never be a progressive if Republicans run shit. Because we’re just about to lose our democracy.

The entire system needs to either be overthrown or taken over from bottom up. Neither of which has a fucking thing to do with voting in the general. I’m too fucking tired to come up with a good analogy at the moment, although I’m pretty sure you’ll reject all of this out of hand anyway, but even if “both sides” are causing harm, one side causes harm a HELL of a lot worse and faster than the other side.

I’ll take a fucking stab wound (not a slicing one, a puncture) over a gunshot wound or a grenade any fucking day, and I don’t think it’s THAT bad, although yeah, it’s not fucking great.

I’d eat moldy food before eating literal shit with arsenic.

And I’d do what I can to not get into that fight in the first place (knife or gun), or not eat that food in the first place. But if I find myself with those two fucking choices, yes, I’ll take the lesser harm every single fucking time.

Because while the fascists fucking play, in some states trans folks lost their IDs and I think they’re trying to make them register? I’ve had some personal issues recently so I’m a little behind on some of the news. While the fascists fucking play, we’re in war in Iran, invade Venezuela, attacks on various federal agencies that we DO like while getting other shitty agencies like ICE to kidnap, deport, and murder citizens.

So you support that shit, do you? Because if enough had voted for Harris, this shit would not be happening now.

The only way Democrats are worse is if people stop fighting for change if a Democrat is in charge and ignore the facists continuing to work.

Anyway, to make this not about you but to vent some steam before I go fucking sleep, FUCK this fucking nonsense that helps elect fascists. It’s yet another way the fascists are trying to win. They want us divided on every front, and by ALL fucking means abuse their control over the media to make Dems sound worse than they are and give Repubs all the fucking passes. The average asshat not paying attention thinks both sides are about the same, but if you look at what they actually do, they are NOT. Most Dem politicians are center or centre-right, and that is STILL better than right-wing nutjobs. But we need to get progressives to run for office. It can happen - AOC get elected. If we had a fucking Congress of people like her, that’d be a good fucking start. But the way we get more like her is NOT to vote for fucking TRUMP or to refrain from voting. It’s to get more progressives running for office. Discussing this shit online leads to protests, protests can lead to change if organized well. All of that is on the right path, even though online discussions and protests by themselves do little - and in the same way working toward getting progressives in control of the party would help solve things, but taking care of our oligarch problem is the real first fucking step.

But meanwhle. Voting in the fucking general for the fucking not-fascist option help keep things at bay better than putting more fascists in office.

Fuck this fucking timeline where we have to deal with this shit in the first place, but also have to fight to get people to understand WHY and HOW we have to fucking fight.

Voting blue in the general has absolutely zero to do with the nature of the candidate that got there.

It has to do with the nature of candidates that run next time.

How about all the other fucking ones where they do?

And when they stop having them altogether?

I’ll take a fucking stab wound (not a slicing one, a puncture) over a gunshot wound or a grenade any fucking day, and I don’t think it’s THAT bad, although yeah, it’s not fucking great.

We’re not talking about choosing between one stab wound or one gunshot wound, this is a cycle. Would you rather get stabbed 10 times and shot twice, or shot once and then get a bulletproof vest?

So you support that shit, do you?

No, that’s why I wanted someone who would throw Trump in prison and have him tried for treason. Biden seems to support it though, given his refusal to do those things. Also, Harris would have gotten us involved with Iran as well, since she’s just as much a slave to Israel as any Republican.

I want you to imagine having this argument in like, 2040, when the choices are between a Republican who wants to send all trans people to death camps, and a Democrat who just wants to send all trans people to jail. I want you to imagine earnestly arguing in favor of a candidate who wants to send trans people to jail, because the alternative is sending them to death camps, and then I want you to flash back to 2026, and imagine how you can vote to ensure that that kind of argument never needs to happen.

Go ahead and vote Newsom '28, have absolutely nothing change with him in office, and enjoy the holocaust enacted by the republican who comes after him. Lord knows he won’t do anything to mitigate it.

I’m done editing the comment now. It turns out I cared more than I thought

Also, I’m done with this bullshit. Fascists appreciate your fucking support. I don’t.
