Seems the silencer shops haven’t updated. When can I get one?!

Also, shouldn’t this drop prices significantly?

If it gets more people buying them, yeah, will absolutely increase the economies of scale and push down prices. Though that will likely take a bit. That said, the $200 tax is already gone, so that has already dropped the final price with taxes.

Seems the silencer shops haven’t updated.

Probably something you can fix in-person at the shop. Most gun stores aren’t super speedy with updating their POS software.

FPC, GOA, NRA (Fuck the NRA) and a few other organizations are already filing a lawsuit to get rid of the NFA. No tax means there no longer needs to be a registry of who paid the tax.

They need to eliminate the registry. It moots the “Brace Rule” debate nonsense and so many other things that are wastes of resources.

Support GOA in their lawsuit to dismantle the NFA.

I haven’t been able to watch the video yet. Are they still considered NFA items? Not happy about this bill overall but I can’t argue with this change being a good thing and a long time coming.

Yeah, they are still on the NFA. So all other rules around them apply, such as the application process with the ATF, fingerprinting, etc.

The other commenter mentioned above that this does open legal challenges against this portion of the NFA, however. As gun registries are illegal and if this is no longer a receipt of tax payments…

This is the first time the price has changed from $200 in almost a century…

If it had been adjusted for inflation a stamp would be 3k today.

What’s likely to happen is now that it’s $0 they call into the legality of the registry. Before the rational was that it was necessary to track who paid, because tracking the ownership wasn’t legal.

If they’re not completely removed, there’s nothing stopping it from being changed again later.

I don’t see a reason for suppressors to be more regulated than guns, and with “pistol” loopholes SBR regulation doesn’t make much sense either.

We need to completely redo our gun laws from the ground up. None of the current system makes sense, but that doesn’t mean we get rid of it, just replace it with something that actual works.
