I would say “where’s the lie” but he’s universally hated and he just injected like $20 million into the Wisconsin election and they lost because he’s toxic

He also lost because, in his mind, money = influence. He didn’t realize that even conservative Wisconsin voters do not react well to people throwing money at them to win.

We border Illinois and constantly deal with FIBs coming to our state, utilizing our parks, lakes, and woodlands, while acting like they are better because they have money. This is particularly common in the north woods where a lot of the conservative voters are.

Illinisians also think money makes them important. The difference is that we tolerate them because they are our neighbors, and we have a long history of hating on each other but also relying on each other - similar to siblings who disagree with how the other lives their life. Musk is a complete outsider and people were not happy about it.

          Hello Midwestern neighbor!

I’m not sure if I’m allowed to swear on this sub so if my post gets deleted, that’s why, but it stands for “fucking Illinois bastard.” It’s super common on the southern side of Wisconsin and the people from Illinois are often aware of it and use it too in a joking fashion.

I’m calling it now so I can link to it in 3 years, Musk is wanting to make a presidential run.

like @peoplebeproblems@midwest.social said, this show has a purpose and I think Trump is planning on going even harder and now they have someone they can pass the torch off to since they’ve already vetted his ideology and love his money. Gotta distance yourself at some point so you can swing in and be the “savior”. He can lay the whole DOGE think on the current administration getting in the way and will totally be a conservative this time. The comments and rhetoric around Elon are already starting to be softer now that he’s in this feud with Trump.

He can’t be president, he wasn’t born here. They already tried that with Ahn-old, and he actually stood a chance of winning. No way anybody with enough juice will back Skum’s presidential bid.

Considering how unprecedented things have been I’m not sure pointing to the past as what to expect in the future makes much sense anymore

If Trump every gets his way with annexing Canada, Musk’s birthright canadian citizenship could allow him to be eligible to run for president.

Not that it’ll stop them from trying but the constitution does say you have to be a natural-born citizen.

“What is Habeas Corpus?” joking, but I guess my minds been so fractured from this administration it doesn’t even consider the constitutional protections America has.

It does make me wonder about the presidential line of succession though. The Speaker of the house is 3rd in line, they could all get together tomorrow and vote him in.

The Constitution does not explicitly require the speaker to be an incumbent member of the House of Representatives… permitting a non-member to serve as Speaker would effectively exempt Speakers from the eligibility requirements of the House Qualifications Clause of Article I, Section II and from being bound by an oath of office under the Oath or Affirmation Clause of Article VI as opposed to House members. (link)

Would be fascinating to see how something like that would play out, scary, but still fascinating in a historical precedence kinda way.

Well honestly its not talked about enough but Ted Cruz ran for president and he was born in Canada. The fact that it was never brought up in any debate by any moderator or opponent is a little worrying.

He had birthright US citizenship just like McCain (born in Panama). That’s what made the whole Obama birth certificate so stupid. He would still be a US citizen at birth even if he was born outside of the US. But he’s brown and has a foreign sounding name. If he was Barry O’Bama and white, no one would have batted an eye.

Ted Cruise’s mother was a citizen when she gave birth to him. That makes him a naturalized citizen. Honestly, if that wasn’t true we would be ICE raiding of banning from office a ton of military children.

No. That makes him a US citizen at birth. A naturalized citizen is when someone who is not a US citizen acquires US citizenship.

Anyone in the line of succession that is disqualified to hold the office is skipped. Again according to the rules that the GOP might just ignore without consequence, but I don’t think they like Musk enough to bother.

Clearly, since Trump is the healthiest president ever to hold office, he will outlive Musk. That is just a given. Therefore, this statement by Musk can only be take as a threat against the life of the president, by an immigrant no less. Send in ICE, SWAT, Seal Team 6, and Space Force to grab him and deport him to Mars.

/s mostly, but I really would like to see Musk shot off in the general direction of Mars.

You should read the mental gymnastics being performed either by republicans or by AI bots for republicans.

A giant circle jerk of Elon isn’t our enemy he just doesn’t understand politics and Trump does. On repeat.

And, Congress sucks, and because they suck so badly and won’t pass hardly anything, this big beautiful bill is the best bill to fix the debt we can get right now. On repeat.

Those two bylines are everywhere. It’s probably going to stick too.
