    I was under the impression that you had to give up your possessions and money to become a monk, but maybe I’m thinking of Buddhism or something. My great-uncle was a Catholic priest and he lived a pretty meager, solitary life. (Inb4 he was a diddler, fuck off.)

    Shaolin, and buddhist tradition could be something for the Chinese to really be proud of. It’s a shame they haven’t managed to protect their heritage from greed and abuse in the modern times.
