Sen. Markwayne Mullin said he does not wear a seatbelt while driving in Washington, D.C., lest doing so prevent him from acting quickly in case he's carjacked.
The implication is that I don’t have to worry about any of it because I just don’t drive in DC. Public transportation in DC is perfectly fine when there’s at least one functioning escalator.
Not in the senator’s case. He was talking about how he drives himself, and doesn’t wear a seatbelt in his jeep in case he gets carjacked because he “doesn’t want to be slowed down.”
Because we’re all familiar with the scourge of carjackings that became murders when people took the 5 seconds to undo their seatbelts.
I don’t wear a seatbelt when I’m in DC and I’ve never been carjacked once…I just walk, take the metro and ride an occasional bus to get around.
So is not wearing a seat belt a euphemism for not driving? What a weird way to say that statement.
