Donald Trump, at his first cabinet meeting, said he believed the US is negotiating “very successfully” with Russia and Ukraine.

The US president suggested that a ceasefire deal is close. “We’re going to make a deal with Russia and Ukraine to stop killing people,” he told reporters.

Asked if he is willing to make security guarantees as part of the deal, Trump replied:

I’m not going to make security guarantees beyond very much … We’re going to have Europe do that, because Europe is the next door neighbour.

He added that the US will be partnering with Ukraine “in terms of rare earth.” “We very much need rare earth, they have great rare earth,” Trump said.

Trump said it was “great deal for Ukraine too, because they get us over there, we are going to be working over there”.

Will the rare earth they send us be in a bucket? Like a paint bucket? Or even more rare like in a small envelope? Will it also be strange? Rare and strange? Or rare and weird? So many chooses!

I get the impression Trump has no clue what’s going on. He’s just just regurgitating bullet points that someone—probably Putin—put in large print on a piece of paper.

FFS I’m just so tired of that orange bastard, get your shit together USA, isn’t this why you have that second amendment???

Unfortunately, most Americans either support this moron or just don’t care.

      I’m sorry. We’re a very broken society.

I’m beginning to suspect that US society is so insane, that people go insane living there.
The stress from the constant lies and gaslighting, and the pressure of poor health and social services, the bigotry and discrimination, and a fundamentally flawed democracy. I seriously think these things combined make people crazy. There is no country I know of, that have such a degree of outright insane politicians.
There are also stellar Americans, that are world class good people, but unfortunately good people are a minority, and it must be hell for them right now.
Seems to me USA may be the worst society to live in now, among all developed countries.

Yes, exactly. Although you also must understand the US is the size of Europe and is about 3/4th it’s population. The differences between California, Florida and Texas are as wide as Germany, Greece and Poland (maybe not culturally but… Actually no, fuck it, yes even culturally lol).

The biggest problem is, on paper our federal government should be closer in power to your E.U. but in practice, 200 years have expanded feds and now we’re in a hostage situation. Imagine your own neighboring countries having 80% control over your country for 4-8 years every 4-8 years; it’s fucking awful. Oh, it’s Greece’s turn to run the economy? Fucking great.

Absolutely, although I’m disappointed UK chose Brexit, I very much favor their right to do so. I believe the ability to leave helps prevent EU overreach.

As for NATO membership in particular, all NATO members need to accept new members…

But the EU has a similar clause to help with military invasions, so the US support isn’t strictly needed for security.

Russia has been doing the things people Hate America for, longer than America has existed. the only reason people turn a blind eye to it is because they are used to thinking of Russia as this huge country with all this territory. And not as a Country that wages war all over the corners of the world because they dont have force projection

there are hundreds of millions of people in the world who feel the same way about Russia as contemporary people feel about America since the end of WW2… Except they exist along Russias borders and not scattered across the planet like Central America, Iraq, Libya and Vietnam.

Russia murdered, raped, pillaged, and genocided its way into where it is, Russia is a prison of nations.

Obviously Russia’s Genocide of Ukraine is bad. That’s not up for debate.

Until the question of doing anything about it comes up, in which case it very quickly turns to “Well, suddenly I’m a fiscal conservative” or “Russia has Legitimate Security Interests 🥺”

“Genocide bad, but we can’t actually do anything that might fight it!”

Isn’t that the exact position you criticized mainstream Dems for, just on Palestine?

Thinking it is bad is fine. The author of the Tweets even agrees with you in the screenshot you posted.

But America is not helping Ukraine. It used Ukraine as a tool. Now that Ukraine is at its lowest point America starts extorting Ukraine.

If this outcome (which many leftists correctly predicted) was known to Ukrainians three years ago, do you think Ukrainians would have been as enthusiastic to fight? So America can put a straw in their ground, and slurp up their minerals to fund Raytheon.

If this outcome (which many leftists correctly predicted) was known to Ukrainians three years ago,

"We predicted that we were going to help the GOP elect a Russian puppeted fascist three years ago, because NEOLIBS are worse than fascists, and the lives of minorities and foreigners don’t matter ^.^ "

Quite a prediction from ‘many leftists’.

do you think Ukrainians would have been as enthusiastic to fight? So America can put a straw in their ground, and slurp up their minerals to fund Raytheon.

Do I think Ukrainians would have been as enthusiastic about not being genocided if America wasn’t supporting them?

Yes. Most people who aren’t ghouls think that.
