Conservatives often say things not because they believe them to be true, but because of what they believe the effect will be. They seek power for themselves, and to subjugate others.
They might say “Free speech is paramount” today, but that’s only because they want to say stuff without consequences. When you want to say something, they’ll say it’s dangerous and unpatriotic. The consistent theme is “I can do what I want. You do what I tell you”. In-groups to protect, and out-groups to bind.
They are horrible people in some fundamental way.
Some of them might not even realize they’re doing it. They’re just riding the waves of their emotions.
There are two types of libertarians. One type wants to remove the government because they believe the government is the main source of oppression and exploitation. The second type wants to remove the government because they think the government blocks them from oppressing and exploiting people.
It seems that the second type is dominant in the USA.
It’s pretty much their versions of the bible or democracy. They pick the worst possible version, and always the most self-serving version.
The left cancels bigots.
The right cancels minority groups.
the right cancels anything they considered woke, so anything they dont like or attribute to traditional gender roles.
Doesn’t even really seem to cancel bigots as most of them seem to maintain careers and lucrative money making opportunities.
After those two weeks one thing became clear to me. This administration doesn’t miss Kirk. Looks like the only value he had was political when he died.
Also the way FBI handled this, I doubt the alleged killer will ever be convicted.
Almost feels like the sole purpose of his death was to justify consolidating power further.
