Donald Trump ripped into Iran and Israel for violating a ceasefire deal within hours of his triumphant announcement.

“You basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f— they’re doing! Do you understand that?” he told reporters Tuesday morning on his way to the NATO summit in The Hague.

I’ll be honest, I don’t mind swearing on social media as I’m an adult but I don’t think there’s any need to swear in the news media.

Anyone can swear, but I don’t see why we need to have swear words in the news. Just because the biggly orange guy thinks it’s appropriate to swear, doesn’t mean we need to lower the standard in the press.

It’s a word. I’m getting broken down by the amount of censorship on the internet, particularly Youtube. Their guidelines only state to withhold any uncensored cursing or adult content for the first fifteen seconds, to avoid being tagged as mature and the video viewcount and profit largely reduced. A very small price to pay for freedom of human expression and life. But:

      • Censoring or obscuring all expletives deemed by Christianity to be foul
      • Censoring or obscuring all words describing a sensitive subject (e.g. rape, sex, sexual, abuse, murder, suicide, kill)
      • Censoring any moment in which a being is subject to any form of impact, whether accidental, assault or police abuse

These actively block and suppress conversing about real issues, leading to more harm, more assault, and more silent victims. Every time the word suicide is censored signifies to me that another person has committed suicide because they weren’t heard. This has been proven to be correlation.

Censorship of human life, experience and expression not only insults my personal ideals of life and freedom, but actually causes more harm, and I cannot forgive that.

What makes swear words so offensive? It’s not their meaning or even their sound. Is language itself a red herring here?

Censorship of words like ‘rape’ and ‘sexual assault’ on social media hurts victims more than it stops bad actors

Channels aren’t doing that because they want to. YouTube has a lot of rules, some of which are written down. They do it because YouTube has flagged them in the past for demonetization on the issue, and they can’t afford to do that too many times. It can also impact your ability to do livestreams.

It’s on top of a pile of issues that’s making YouTube content creation non-viable for everyone.

It’s a bigger issue of so few platforms for people to use and reach an audience.

But it all comes down to corporations are causing people to unnecessarily censor themselves. It’s a weird thing where corporations have a power they shouldn’t to control what people are saying.

I somewhat understand content creators who make money. But I don’t understand the people who comment and don’t make money off of it censoring themselves so a company can make more ad revenue.

It’s an old grift. If you don’t want to actually do something, but you still want credit for doing it, then just say that you’re doing it. Many people will be tricked.

It’s the same reason the Nazis called themselves “socialists” despite never supporting socialism.

His obsession with the Nobel peace price is really what’s driving all this. He’s been willing to do deals nobody else would make just to get that recognition, and it’s ironically inflaming more conflict.

To be fair, geopolitics is complicated. Ever seen The Good Place? I suspect it’s pretty difficult to stay totally uninvolved in war crimes as a major world leader. The Doug Forcetts of geopolitics don’t do much evil, but they don’t do enough good to get peace prizes either.

Muslims and Jews have been fighting each other for nearly 3000 years.

If anyone thinks they’re going to be the one person who can stop that conflict, they’re absolutely delusional.

In this case I meant the literal definition of Muslim, not just Islam. The Persians were fighting Judeans back in 500 BC over the same land. It’s still the same conflict, just under a different name millenia later.

I meant the literal definition of Muslim, not just Islam.

And what is that supposed to be?
          The English definition is a follower of Islam 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

If you take the translation from Arabic "someone in submission to the will and law of God” then I don’t see how that would not apply to religious Jews as well.

So it would really help your argument if you could provide a source that shows any significant meaning of Muslim outside the context of Islam.

Great point. Trump has never once showed a hint of empathy and only sees things from his own perspective.

Whether he’s talking about sexually assaulting women or using the military to assault another country, it’s all very similar to him.

Trump’s many obvious deficiencies make him one of the least qualified people to negotiate peace with other countries.

It turns out conservatives are offended by sex, not sexual assault. They’re historically pretty okay with that one.
