Still blows my mind that conservatives can be so crazy about saving cells, but not give two shits about feeding, schooling or making sure kids have stable homes.

I know it’s religion, but man. Leave women to make their own choices.

It’s about white supremacy also. They don’t want anything interfering with the supply of white babies.

Specifically poor white babies. Rich white people can afford to get an abortion elsewhere.

Poor people with lots of babies tend to be more religious, less educated, and more likely to be looking for scapegoats, compared to more privileged and wealthy people.

Makes it much easier to brainwash them into thinking that it’s all [insert any marginalized group of people]'s fault

One nice thing about “Going to Disneyland” is that it’s a perfect excuse for a person to spend a long weekend in California and come back tired. It’s open all year long, and is so crowded it wouldn’t be odd if another person was there at the same time and never saw you. It’s easy to know what kinds of rides, food, and experiences one might have enjoyed, and appropriate souvenirs are available at LAX, you can stock up before you even leave the terminal. Whether you actually spend your time visiting Planned Parenthood and recuperating in your hotel room (or an Auntie’s spare room) is entirely your business. Although spending some time in the noonday sunshine acquiring a toasted nose will add verisimilitude.

Editing to add: You could even get mifeprestone and souvenirs (for nosy coworkers) all delivered to your home in plain brown boxes and “Go to Disneyland” in the comfort and privacy of your own bedroom, if you’re little enough along.

Disneyland also has a medical center on site. If you get a cut, you go there to get a bandaid. I woman could easily say their head hurts—something they have probably told their husbands a million times to escape them—and tuck away for a quick “adios blastocyst!”

Or one could just make pennyroral tea, it is a type of mint, and is safe and effective using as tea.

But if you want to get a permission slip from a doctor go ahead I guess.

Perfectly safe … apart from the liver and neurological damage.

It works as an aborficant because it’s toxic, and there’s no way to accurately control the dose in homemade “tea” even if the user somehow knows what the “safe” does for their body is.

If it’s the only option: it get it. But using it for an abortion when infinitely more effective and safer medications are available is insane.

Not when used as tea it is safe as was reported in the National Institute of Health before they pulled the article on replaced it with a fear mongering one about five years back.

The anti-abortion people are equating use of the tea with use of the oil.

Penmyroyal is safe amd used for thousands of years and does not require a permission slip from a doctor.

If you do not trust yourself to treat yourself as humans have done since before history, by all means get your permission slips.

Do not stifle the knowledge of millenium though because you hate freedom.

I was curious so I looked it up on a few sites

While a tea made from the plant remains relatively popular, the consumption of the oil can be extremely dangerous and even fatal and should be avoided at all costs.

So that parts says tea is basically OK but oil is bad but the next part confirms how.

However the large doses that are needed to cause abortion have also proven to be fatal for the woman taking it. In one documented case in 1994, a woman who drank just 2 teaspoons of the essential oil over the course of 2 days died from the dose.

Few other sites just said avoid the tea form when pregnant as it could induce abortion. Not sure how reliable this is but must be consistent enough for all the warnings everywhere.

It has a long history of use inducing abortions. It was described in the National Institute of Health as a safe method up until about 5 years ago when they pulled that article and seemed to have replaced it with one falsely equating use of the oil with use of the tea in danger.

Thats seems consistent with what I read. Maybe big pharma had a hand. The focus on sites was always on the oil being dangerous. I didnt see any data on the tea side dosage or efficiency which is why im skeptical vs pharma data that is plentiful in comparison. Frustrating for those that need an alternative.

Finding reliable information on medicinal plants is fiendishly difficult as well. Money over talk benefits of some plants often trying to sell them, then Pharma shills bad mouth them unfairly. The National Institute of Health is actually a Fairly reliable source, I do not know how much longer that might hold into the future but they do still have a lot of good information about medicinal plants outside of hot button stuff like this.
