Incredibly annoying to read article. Felt like the author was intentionally being ambiguous about what was paraphrasing and what was reading between the lines.

Reading the actual speech it’s not so much mask off as it is mask slightly higher. It’s still white supremacist garbage but it’s just the same white supremacist garbage they’ve been saying for years. Mask-off means explicit, it’s still just implicit.

" His answer is that the nation is fundamentally not based on the idea of equality or freedom or any other ideal. Nor is it accessible to people of all races and religions. "

Well he isn’t wrong about that. Fundamentally it was a nation for “new money” people to own.

I just went through the transcript and the part that stood out as the worst was the dangerously divisive “America doesn’t belong to them. It belongs to us.”

This guy should not be allowed to hold office.

This “Us” sounds like a venn diagram where each circle is nested inside of the previous one, like an archery target.

      Us = US citizens
Us = white “real” US citizens
Us = the people who agree with our ideology
Us = middle & upper class
      Us = elite white

Us = the billionaire that wins the hunger games at the top

I have to ask a simple question. Why do leftists have such a huge fixation over Donald Trump? The hate is never ending and constant. In my country, we could be stuck with a bad leader for ever, so long as people continue electing him or her.

The US grants a presidential term limit of 8 years and POOF! They are history. So I asked again, why do leftists go to such lengths to hate on a man that’s simply doing what past presidents had been doing.

I get your anger, but it’s blown out the window, same as Trumps rhetoric.

The hate he has espoused and encouraged amongst the public has promoted nationalistic and dehumanizing beliefs to a boiling point, not to mention the influence and power he has provided the Heritage Foundation and their implementation of Project 2025.

Timecop, the Van Damme movie, predicted a future US would have a White Nationalist Party. But they only predicted it would get 5% of the vote.

I’ve decided to stop referring to them as Republicans. From now on I’m just referring to them as Confederates. There’s no distinction whatsoever between the two. Their goal is a 21st century CSA.

On Nov. 19, 1863, Abraham Lincoln delivered one of the greatest speeches in American history, the Gettysburg Address. It opened “Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth, on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”

    It was conceived in genocide.

And Lincoln gave a speech a few years before that where he said that white people are the superior race to the inferior race of black people. Dude was a horrific white supremacist

He was still a white supremacist. He just learned it was harmful to his career to say bad things about black people being inferior

    • Right? People keep thinking Lincoln was some kind of friend to black people but he had his general investigate if he could ship them all back to Africa after the civil war. The response was “We can’t beat their replacement rate”, and that’s how that plan died. He never viewed white people as equal to black people otherwise he would have done a lot more than fight a war against a secession…

Get your facts right before you start spreading lies. Liberia began being settled by formerly enslaved Americans around 1820. When Abe Lincoln was 11 years old. Abe was also pretty progressive compared to most White Americans in his racist beliefs. By today’s standards, he was racist. But he was for his time about as progressive as was possible for a white man to be in public without being subject to murder by slavers. And guess what, he was murdered by slavers.

I can hardly believe that the South and North can live in peace unless we get rid of the Negroes. Certainly they cannot, if we don’t get rid of the Negroes whom we have armed and disciplined and who have fought with us, I believe, to the amount of 150,000 men. I believe it would be better to export them all…

i can’t find the exact source, it was in the memoirs of the general he wrote this to. I can look later when I have access to my laptop again but rest assured it is real and Lincoln was very much in favor of Liberia.

and no, he was no john brown. Other choice lincoln quotes:

And this has exactly what to do with what I posted? Except what happened to Lincoln was the same that happened to John Brown except John Brown was lawfully murdered. When Lincoln was alive, it could and did cost white men their lives to be anti racist.

            • Calm down lol, it’s like I attacked you personally lmao.

The link is that you claimed that I “lied” and should “get my facts straight”, so I linked the reference that I was referring to. And no Lincoln was murdered for not being racist enough, John Brown was murdered for actually opposing racism. I don’t know what you mean by it cost “white men their lives to be anti racist” as if there was an army of them trying to save black people or whatever, but yeah the society was so cartoonishly evil and racist that the mere illusion to improve the situation of the black workers could cost someone their life.

Fuck white nationalists, but this article seems like a sensationalist headline with little actual backing. They don’t give a full quote of a single sentence of his speech, and seem to take a lot of liberties connecting the dots. I don’t know anything about this guy, and he may well be a piece of shit, but I don’t trust this style of reporting.

This year, Schmitt, a sitting senator, outdid them both. Schmitt opened by reiterating the antisemitic tropes of his senior colleague. America is threatened by the “elites,” he declared, “who rule everywhere but are not truly from anywhere.” This is the “rootless cosmopolitan” trope at the heart of modern antisemitism. They serve “global liberalism” and “global capital” and support mass migration, he continued, a nod to the “great replacement” theory, which blames Jews for replacing white Americans with nonwhite immigrants.

      • The white Europeans who settled America and conquered the West “believed they were forging a nation—a homeland for themselves and their descendants,” he said. “They fought, they bled, they struggled, they died for us. They built this country for us. America, in all its glory, is their gift to us, handed down across the generations. It belongs to us. It’s our birthright, our heritage, our destiny. If America is everything and everyone, then it is nothing and no one at all. But we know that’s not true. America is not a ‘universal nation.’ ”

I dont think there is a lot to interpret here…

Give me a full quote… all I’m saying. There’s not a single sentence.

Edit: my bad, I just realized your quote was the one full quote in the article that I’d missed. Lack of coffee. Still, a whole lot of editorializing around a bunch of partial quotes.

          And again, fuck white nationalists.

I wish you weren’t getting down voted for this. The free-mixing of partial quotes with editorial interpretation in the same sentence is egregiously misleading. Yes, this is a white nationalist dog whistle speech. Print it, then explain the rhetoric. Putting words in his mouth only invites rejection for bias, and, in this case, rejection is justified.

I find it more upsetting that this publication acts as if this is the first time this is ever happened. worse, that the people of this country actually think that this is the first time this has ever happened in the United States.

It isn’t. This is the fourth or fifth time this has happened here.

How could anyone possibly be surprised by this? How fucking stupid are you?

This. The reporting around things like this are reckless. Half the time it sounds like they’re inadvertently giving a platform to the rhetoric to spread. To normalize something that people already fought down before. But unfortunately many people are ignorant to that fact because many were raised with a revisionist version of history. And most don’t talk to people. Seriously. They don’t listen to family stories of what actually went down in their communities. For better or for worse.
